Palm Stearic Acid

Palm Stearic Acid

$4.00$15.50

If you take palm oil, and remove the lighter component oils that serve to make it soft, you have what is known as “Palm Stearic Acid” a very hard, white, waxy oil that comes in flake form. If you have a lotion or cream formulation that could benefit from additional viscosity, this product is ideal. In fact, you can often make a fine, thick, emollient cream from a lotion recipe by simply substituting a portion (about 4% maybe) of the “light” oils with stearic acid. The only downside to stearic acid is that it can result is a greasy cream if used to excess.

Stearic acid is also a useful addition to shaving soaps. It brings a dense lather and helps make the bar harder. Be aware that it can be very reactive, so it’s best to add this product to a hot process soap.

This is an eco-friendly product, derived from palm oil, and does not contain any other chemicals or additives.

Coconut Oil Fractionated (1 GAL)

Coconut Oil Fractionated (1 GAL)

$54.50

Fractionated coconut is composed of just the medium-chain fatty acids found in coconut oil. These parts are quick-absorbing, non-greasy, fully saturated oils with a long shelf life – ideal for lotions and creams. This variety of coconut is of no use in soapmaking as the parts that contribute to lather and cleansing are missing. Much better in lotions and creams than grapeseed or almond oils.

Body Butter Base

Body Butter Base

Making body butter is now as easy as melting butter!

We developed this recipe to be high in Shea Butter, and to be poured into tins. There’s just enough beeswax so that the body butter is smooth and firm to the touch in its container, but soft to the touch when pressed with the finger. A real delight.

Instructions: Melt until clear, add fragrance at approximately 1.5% of weight of body butter base (please do not use fragrances above the supplier’s recommended usage levels for a leave-on product). When clear, pour into appropriate containers, refrigerate overnight for a smooth top. We also melt, scent, and pour into larger containers, and then refrigerate overnight. Then, when thoroughly cool, stir well and scoop into appropriate containers. The second method works very well for a creamy consistency and our customers love a “cuticle cream” made using the second method.

Ingredients: Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Beeswax, Cocoa Butter, Stearic Acid. (When fragrance is added, it should appear just after “Beeswax” on the ingredient label. For proper labeling when colorant is added, please contact us via email.)
